Four approaches, clearly explained
Psychology: notice and understand
Explore feelings, attention, learning, behavior in context and the difference between observations and interpretations. The workbook uses developmental and wellness guidance as background for original TMB activities. It is educational rather than a psychological assessment.
Reggio Emilia-inspired inquiry: follow a question
The introduction explains the community and municipal early-childhood context of Reggio Emilia, Italy, and Loris Malaguzzi's contribution. TMB activities invite interests, different forms of expression, documentation and revisiting ideas. Older-age versions are inquiry adaptations, not official Reggio programs. [1]
Conscious Discipline-inspired practice: examine the response
The introduction identifies the educational approach associated with Becky Bailey and separates it from TMB's original exercises. Explore adult composure, connection, respectful limits, skill teaching and repair. Government accounts of program use and an ERIC-hosted research article provide context; they do not establish that this workbook has been evaluated. [2,3]
Social-emotional learning: relate and reflect
Explore awareness, communication, perspective, boundaries, access and shared decisions. Source context emphasizes relationships, culture and meaningful participation. Original activities offer fictional examples, private reflection or a pass. [2,4]
How the workbooks use research
The history and method sections distinguish source descriptions from original TMB teaching applications. Every book contains reference links and an evidence map. Government guidance supports educational context; the examples, activity sequences and age adaptations have not been evaluated as a curriculum. CDC milestone resources support monitoring and do not replace validated developmental screening. [5]
Reggio Emilia and Conscious Discipline names identify inspiration. These are not official, licensed or endorsed curricula, and proprietary worksheets are not reproduced.
Connect reflection with practice
Choose one concept related to an ordinary moment. Try a manageable part, record what happened and consider another explanation before deciding what it means. In the gym, use non-contact activities under coach guidance. Learners can draw, dictate, sign or write; personal disclosure is optional.
